Former IAS officer Raj Kumar Goyal will be sworn in as Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) by President Droupadi Murmu, officials confirmed on Monday.
A panel, comprising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, endorsed Goyal for the position. Goyal, a 1990-batch retired IAS officer, diligently served in various high-ranking positions before his retirement recently.
This appointment not only fills a vacancy left in the Central Information Commission but also brings the Commission to full operational strength, marking an end to a decade-long gap, say transparency activists.
