Swift Justice: Haryana and Punjab's National Lok Adalat Resolves 10 Lakh Cases

The fourth National Lok Adalat of the year took place in Haryana and Punjab, achieving the resolution of more than 10 lakh cases. According to officials, this event provided a significant boost to the justice delivery system in both states.
In Punjab alone, 429 Lok Adalats adjudicated 4,54,466 cases and dispensed awards worth Rs 665 crore. Similarly, in Haryana, 192 benches settled 5,53,741 cases, marking an impressive feat in the pre-Lok Adalat docket as well.
These Lok Adalats, established under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, offer a non-formal, effective dispute resolution platform. Key figures like Justices Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Lisa Gill highlighted the importance of collaboration in maximizing the Lok Adalat's efficacy, especially in reducing the backlog of cases.
