The Enforcement Directorate's recent raid exposed a life of luxury at the Lucknow home of Alok Pratap Singh, a dismissed police constable connected to an illegal codeine-laced cough syrup network. The raid revealed opulent European-style interiors, vintage lighting, and a trove of luxury items, suggesting potential links to illicit funds.
Singh, who hails from Chandauli, was arrested following the interrogation of another accused in the case. His extravagant residence, valued in crores, raised suspicions of financial irregularities potentially tied to the cough syrup racket he allegedly masterminded in Uttar Pradesh. The Special Task Force is probing these connections further.
The ongoing investigation has already led to several key arrests, including 'super-stockists' connected to the illegal trade. Approximately 3.5 lakh bottles of syrup have been seized, and financial transactions are under scrutiny. Authorities are committed to dismantling the network, which has also seen illicit consignment crossings at international borders.
