Major Contraband Seizures in Assam's Karbi Anglong

In a significant crackdown on contraband, Assam's Karbi Anglong district saw the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of illicit goods valued at Rs 1 crore, according to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Sarma, through a post on X, disclosed that two individuals were apprehended with 14.14 kg of opium, valuing Rs 84 lakh. The operation underscores the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region.
In a separate incident, another two individuals were detained with 3.19 lakh pieces of cigarettes, worth Rs 30 lakh, reportedly smuggled from Myanmar, highlighting issues of cross-border contraband smuggling.
