Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala on Sunday recorded his statement with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Sabarimala gold loss case. Chennithala approached the SIT to disclose information potentially implicating an international racket in the case.

The session at the Crime Branch office took over an hour, as the politician shared details he received from a businessman. Chennithala clarified that this information, while not constituting formal evidence, was important for further inquiry by the authorities.

Acknowledging a High Court observation linking international antique smugglers to the case, Chennithala emphasized the need for continued efforts to recover the missing gold artifacts from the Sabarimala temple. The SIT has already arrested six individuals, including former officials of the Travancore Devaswom Board.
