An unfortunate road accident in Arunachal Pradesh has claimed the lives of 21 labourers from Assam, prompting measures of heartfelt condolence and support. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday that an ex gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh would be given to the families of each deceased worker, showing solidarity during such difficult times.

The tragic incident occurred when a truck carrying 22 workers from Tinsukia district fell off a cliff along the Hayuliang-Chaglagam Road on December 8, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake. The victims hailed from Dhelaghat in the Gillapukri Tea Estate, and their absence has left a profound impact on their community.

In addition to Sarma's announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered a further Rs 2 lakh from the PM National Relief Fund to each bereaved family. Remarkably, a lone survivor, Budheswor Deep, managed to escape the crash and report the incident, leading authorities to uncover the accident.
