In a recent address, Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy advocated for the newly introduced VB G RAM G Act, asserting it remedies existing gaps in the prior rural employment scheme. The reform aims to better serve rural workers and farmers by enhancing employment opportunities and accountability.
The Minister highlighted that the NDA government at the Centre has restructured the former MGNREGA to deliver substantial benefits to village labor, the agricultural workforce, and the broader farm sector. He accused the Congress of attempting to politicize the initiative.
Reddy elaborated on the initiative's specifics, indicating that it seeks to increase workdays for agricultural workers and offer 125 days of guaranteed employment. The scheme promises diverse projects such as water conservation and skill development. Despite allegations of state financial burden, the Centre plans to augment expenditure by Rs 17,000 crore to support the endeavor.
