Tensions Surge as Israel Strikes Hezbollah Targets
The Israeli military conducted strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon in response to ceasefire violations. The ceasefire, brokered by the U.S. in 2024, followed over a year of conflict. Tensions are high as Lebanon faces international pressure to disarm Hezbollah to prevent further escalation.
The Israeli military launched strikes on Hezbollah targets across various locations in Lebanon on Thursday, attributing the action to Hezbollah's ongoing ceasefire violations.
Earlier, an Israeli military spokesperson had warned residents in the Lebanese village of Sohmor about potential risks. This follows a U.S.-brokered ceasefire in 2024, which concluded more than a year of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, severely impacting the Iran-backed group.
With mounting pressure from the U.S. and Israel, there is significant concern within Lebanon that Israel might increase strikes to urge Lebanese authorities to expedite the disarmament of Hezbollah.
