Gurugram Police have successfully dismantled an international syndicate that swindled individuals by promising iPhones at discounted rates. The revelation came after authorities arrested a key member, Mohammad Ghalib Raza, in Delhi on Thursday.
The gang allegedly lured a Nepalese citizen into believing they would procure an iPhone from the US at a reduced cost. However, upon his arrival in Gurugram, the victim was deceived and robbed of Rs 2 lakh and a mobile phone, police reported.
Raza, a native of Bihar residing in Delhi, admitted during interrogation to being part of the organized fraudulent network. He disclosed that the gang habitually targeted foreign nationals, enticing them to India with false promises of inexpensive electronics, then preying upon them. Police continue to probe the case.
