Congress Triumphs in Chandrapur: A Shift in Political Power
In the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation elections, the Congress emerged as the largest party, winning 27 out of 66 seats. This reversed their fortunes from 2017 when BJP dominated. The victory, attributed to public rejection of BJP's governance, will see Congress form the administration with external support.

In a significant political shift, the Congress has emerged as the largest party in the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation elections, securing 27 out of 66 seats. This marks a setback for the BJP, which saw its previous dominance reduced from 36 seats in the 2017 polls.
Announcing the party's success, senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar expressed confidence that with external support from other corporators, they were poised to form the administration and appoint a Congress mayor. He cited widespread dissatisfaction with the BJP's administration, citing issues like corruption, rising prices, and unemployment.
The change in public sentiment was vibrant as Congress supporters celebrated their victory with firecrackers and drumbeats. Prominent figures such as Sangeeta Amrutkar and Vasant Deshmukh were among the winners. Local MP Pratibha Dhanorkar attributed the victory to grassroots efforts by party workers.
