Rapid Action Force Steps Up for Disaster Management

The Rapid Action Force (RAF), a riot-control wing of the CRPF, is now involved in disaster relief and rescue operations. Comprising 340 troops, these specialized teams, trained alongside the NDRF, are prepared for natural and man-made disasters across the country.

The Rapid Action Force (RAF), renowned for their blue dungarees, has expanded its role beyond riot control to include disaster relief and rescue missions, officials announced on Friday.

This initiative comes under the directive of the Union Home Ministry and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), reflecting a strategic enhancement of disaster management capabilities.

A total of 340 troops, organized into 14 teams from seven battalions, are now on standby to address both natural and man-made disasters. RAF personnel have undergone rigorous training in collaboration with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to ensure readiness.
