Former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, incarcerated in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria district, has alleged receiving a death threat and has requested to be present in court during his bail plea hearing, according to local officials.

Thakur filed an application with District Judge Dhanendra Pratap Singh, asking to be produced personally for the bail hearing set for Saturday. The judge ordered the application to be considered alongside the existing bail petition.

A typed note with abusive language and a death threat was found near Thakur's barrack. His attorney, Praveen Dwivedi, voiced concerns over Thakur's safety within the jail. Jail Superintendent Prem Sagar Shukla confirmed the threat is under investigation.
