Mumbra police achieved a major victory against drug trafficking by seizing mephedrone valued at Rs 27.21 crore. Officials announced it as the largest drug seizure at the Police Station level within the Thane police commissionerate.

Based on reliable intelligence, the NDPS squad orchestrated a sting near a local hospital where they apprehended Basu Umardin Sayed in possession of 23.5 grams of the drug, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Subhash Burse.

Sayed's arrest revealed a trafficking network originating from Madhya Pradesh, leading to further arrests of Ram Singh Amar Singh Gujjar and Kailash Shambhulalji Balai. A subsequent raid in Ratlam resulted in the capture of two more, Manohar Lal Ranglal Gujjar and Riyazmohammad Sultanmohammad Mansuri, securing a total of 13.629 kilograms of mephedrone.
