The registration occurred after Robbinson Gonsalves, a fisherman and construction entrepreneur, accused the priests and three security guards of stealing materials like iron and cement sheets. Gonsalves, having faced initial police inaction, escalated the matter to the Bandra court, which prompted the filing.
Police are investigating charges under several Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections, including theft and criminal trespass, as they work to resolve this surprising case involving one of the city's iconic religious sites.
