The Shiromani Akali Dal hailed the Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Bikram Singh Majithia, underscoring what it termed as 'truth prevailing'. The party accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of 'political vendetta' against the senior Akali leader.
A Supreme Court bench, comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta, issued the bail order for Majithia, countermanding a prior Punjab and Haryana High Court decision. Previously, the Akali leader received bail in a narcotics-related case under the NDPS Act.
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema cautioned that bail is not an exoneration, asserting Majithia still faces trial and could be convicted. Akali leaders remain resolute, accusing the AAP government of unjust actions to silence dissent.
