In a grim incident, a 32-year-old woman allegedly took her own life after reportedly facing prolonged harassment by her in-laws in Tolapur Bazar Sultanpur village, the police reported on Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Rinku Singh, was found hanging in her residence on Sunday. Her brother lodged a complaint, prompting the police to file an FIR against her husband, Chandan Singh, along with four other family members.

According to the complaint, Rinku had endured repeated abuse and physical assaults since her marriage ten years earlier. Authorities allege that after her death, the family disposed of her body by immersing it in the Saryu river. Legal proceedings are underway, with charges filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
