Punjab Politics: Bail Granted But Corruption Allegations Loom
Punjab Minister Aman Arora stated that the Supreme Court's granting of bail to Bikram Singh Majithia should not be seen as exoneration. The serious charges against Majithia remain intact and will be further examined in court. The bail is based on procedural grounds, not on the case's merits.

In a significant development, Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora cautioned against misconstruing the Supreme Court's recent grant of bail to Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia as an exoneration. He emphasized that this legal relief is solely a procedural formality and does not diminish the severe corruption allegations that Majithia still faces.
Highlighting the nature of the bail, Arora indicated that it was awarded on technical grounds such as custody duration and procedural formalities, rather than on the substantive elements of the case. He warned against misleading narratives and asserted that the corruption charges, backed by extensive documentation, remain unaltered.
Arora accused the Akali-BJP faction of attempting to distort the situation to their advantage, while underscoring that Majithia must comply with stringent bail conditions, including regular court appearances and no witness influence, which reflect the case's gravity.
