The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, has declared that deaths resulting from 'Chinese manja' will now be considered murder, warranting the most severe penalties for those convicted. This tough stance follows a recent accident where a motorcyclist's throat was slashed by kite string in Lucknow.
The Chief Minister's directive calls for a crackdown on the production, sale, and use of the deadly kite string across the state. The administration plans to conduct a high-level review and launch a state-wide campaign to mitigate the risk that 'Chinese manja' poses to public safety.
In a particularly harrowing incident, Syed Shoaib, a motorcyclist, died after a kite string tangled around his neck, severing a vital vein. Despite efforts to save him, excessive blood loss led to his death. This incident underscores the urgent need for effective enforcement of the new directives.
