Mizoram Assembly Gears Up for Upcoming Budget Session

The Mizoram Assembly's budget session, beginning February 17 and likely extending till March 12, will see Chief Minister Lalduhoma present the 2026-27 budget. The Mizoram Assembly is set to kick off its budget session on February 17, extending potentially till March 12, as announced by Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama. The focal point of the session will be the budget presentation for the fiscal year 2026-27 by Chief Minister Lalduhoma, who also holds the finance portfolio.

The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) met to outline the session's proceedings, with a rescheduling of the budget presentation initially slated for February 19. This decision follows a request from the Chief Minister, who sought additional preparation time after the Union Budget release on February 1.

This session marks the sixth of the 9th Mizoram Legislative Assembly led by the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM). The Assembly Secretariat has gathered 793 starred and 305 unstarred questions for ministers, alongside amendments including the Mizo Marriage, Divorce and Inheritance Property Bill and Mizoram Local Bodies Bill, which are poised for deliberation.
