In a fervent plea, Congress MLA K Ranjit Singh on Thursday called for resolute measures against disorderly elements in Manipur's troubled hill regions. He stressed the urgency of restoring peace during an Assembly session, citing grave concerns over the prevailing lawlessness.
Highlighting a recent tragic episode, Singh narrated the abduction and fatal shooting of a 32-year-old Kakching Khunou resident in Churachandpur. Accusing armed miscreants, he underscored the dire need for stringent governance to reclaim peace.
In alignment, opposition leader Okram Ibobi Singh urged ethnic communities to safeguard Manipur's territorial integrity. He also questioned the procedural propriety concerning the Governor's Address in the Assembly, rekindling discussions on constitutional conventions.
