A subcontractor has been arrested by Delhi Police following the tragic fall of a biker into an unmarked pit dug by the Delhi Jal Board in Janakpuri. Rajesh Kumar Prajapati, 47, was taken into custody after it was revealed he failed to notify authorities of the accident in a timely manner.
The incident came to light when an eyewitness, Vipin Singh, witnessed the aftermath. He informed a nearby guard who alerted a laborer. The subcontractor, Prajapati, was informed but did not report the accident, which only came to the police's knowledge the following morning.
Police investigations continue, with an FIR filed against the contractor and concerned officials under section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The incident highlights ongoing safety concerns. Three DJB engineers have been suspended amid these investigations.
