In a significant operation, police in Jharkhand's Koderma district arrested Rameshwar Prasad, a native of Bihar, for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. The arrest followed a tip-off about suspicious activities in a government school building.
Prasad, also known as Rakesh Saw, was discovered with four country-made rifles and five live cartridges. He initially worked as a laborer in Ramgarh and claimed financial strains led him to the arms trade.
Authorities have charged him under the Arms Act, revealing that Prasad's weapon dealing stemmed from connections made in Bihar's Nalanda district. This case highlights ongoing challenges in curbing arms trafficking across state borders.
