False Alarm: Misuse of Emergency Helpline in Maharashtra

In Beed district of Maharashtra, a man has been tangled in legal consequences for misusing the emergency helpline number 112 by lodging a false complaint about his wife's disappearance.

The individual, identified as Govind Gajendra Bharti from Helamb in Parli Vaijnath tehsil, called the helpline on February 12. Upon arriving at his residence, officers found the house locked and neighbors revealing the call was a false alarm.

Police emphasize the importance of the 112 service for critical help, criticizing Bharti for obstructing emergency resources and diverting aid from genuine emergencies. Legal action is being pursued against him.
