Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari expressed serious concerns about evolving political dynamics along the Bangladesh border following recent electoral changes in Dhaka. He urged heightened vigilance and stronger border infrastructure to counter a perceived 'ideological consolidation.'
According to Adhikari, Jamaat-e-Islami's wins in 68 constituencies along Bangladesh's border with West Bengal spotlight the need for increased alertness in the Siliguri corridor—a strategic area connecting India's northeastern states with the mainland. The situation, he warned, calls for a zero-tolerance approach to infiltration.
Criticizing the Trinamool Congress government for inadequate support in land acquisition for border fencing, Adhikari emphasized that robust cooperation with the BSF is crucial. Highlighting a 'changed geopolitical scenario,' he advocated a BJP-led 'double-engine' government for ensuring border security, cautioning against any electoral outcome that might weaken vigilance.
