Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to embark on a two-day visit to Assam starting February 20. The visit aims at launching the second phase of the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP), a pivotal initiative for the development of strategic villages bordering international land borders.
A highlight of Shah's itinerary includes participating in the annual CRPF parade in Guwahati. The ceremony will feature an arms display and presentations on CRPF operations in Chhattisgarh and Kashmir, with an invitation extended to local NCC cadets to inspire their potential recruitment into the force.
The Vibrant Villages Programme, sanctioned by the Union government with a budget of Rs 6,839 crore, seeks to enhance livelihood opportunities in isolated villages through tourism, cultural promotion, and infrastructure improvements. The initiative is pivotal to fortifying the local economy and security along India's strategic borders.
