In a disturbing incident in Jharkhand's Chatra district, authorities apprehended four individuals for allegedly beating a 40-year-old mentally challenged man to death. The deceased, identified as Rambali Rajwar, was mistakenly believed to be a 'child lifter' by local villagers.
The incident unfolded on Sunday night in the Piparwar police station area. Villagers from Chiraiyatand and Kichto brutally attacked Rajwar, who was a resident of Barwatoli in Ramgarh district. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at RIMS-Ranchi the following day.
According to SP Sumit Kumar Agarwal, the accused were swiftly arrested within 24 hours of the FIR being lodged, thanks to video footage. Among those arrested are Prayag Mahto, Mahendra Mahto alias Tarun Mahto, Surendra Mahto, and Basant Munda. The case was registered based on Bhuvneshwar Rajwar's statement, brother of the deceased, highlighting his brother's mental health struggles.
