A soldier allegedly ended his life with his service rifle at an Army camp in Nagrota, officials reported on Thursday. The soldier, identified as an Agniveer from Uttar Pradesh, was on duty at the time of the incident.

The tragedy unfolded around midnight on Wednesday, with the soldier dying instantly at the scene. His body has been transported to Government Medical College (GMC) hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Authorities are yet to ascertain the motive behind this drastic action. Meanwhile, the police have initiated inquest proceedings to investigate the circumstances surrounding the soldier's death.
