An Israeli naval projectile inadvertently hit a United Nations fuel truck in Gaza, according to military statements released on Friday. The incident, occurring on Thursday, has led to the UN Office for Project Services calling for a comprehensive investigation.

The fuel truck, empty at the time, sustained damage around 5 a.m. It was moving towards the Kerem Shalom crossing, with its journey previously cleared with Israeli authorities. Despite the damage, no injuries were reported.

The Israeli military explained that a 'firing component' deviated from its intended path during defensive operations. They confirmed the event has been reviewed, with necessary lessons learned. UNOPS Executive Director Jorge Moreira da Silva emphasized the risks UN teams face daily in their humanitarian efforts, demanding they operate without such threats.
