A Delhi court on Monday granted a 10-day interim bail to activist Sharjeel Imam, who is facing charges related to the 2020 Delhi riots. The court's decision allows Imam to attend his brother's wedding, scheduled for later this month.

Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai presided over the bail hearing, during which Imam's request for a six-week release was considered. Ultimately, the court settled on a 10-day period, from March 20 to 30, for Imam to fulfill his family obligations.

Imam is among the accused in connection with the February 2020 riots in northeast Delhi, which resulted in 53 deaths and over 700 injuries. The violence was part of larger protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
