Murmu highlighted the dual responsibility of IRS officers to facilitate business while safeguarding national revenue. She stressed that prudent decision-making, along with technological integration, is key to maintaining public trust and compliance within the tax system. The integration of modern technologies like artificial intelligence marks a progressive shift towards a transparent and efficient tax administration, she noted.
The President also pointed out the role of IRS officers in global tax governance amid increasing international cooperation, underlining their contribution to India's economic formalization and growth. She encouraged the new batch of officers to effectively implement the upcoming Income Tax Act, 2025, and strengthen citizens' trust in the tax framework, pivotal for national development.
