Mohammad Salim Dola, a high-profile international drug trafficker, was extradited to India from Turkiye, where he was living under the alias 'Hamza' using a Bulgarian passport. Investigations are underway to verify the authenticity of the passport, according to officials.
On Thursday, a local Mumbai court remanded Dola, 59, to the custody of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) until May 8. The NCB presented evidence linking him to drug kingpin Dawood Ibrahim and identified Dola as a major supplier of a large quantity of mephedrone seized in Mumbai last June.
Dola's arrest was executed in Turkiye, facilitated by an Interpol Red Notice requested by India in March 2024. Known for his involvement in multiple narcotics cases, Dola had evaded arrest until his capture and deportation to Delhi on Tuesday.
