Two individuals were sentenced to a two-day jail term after being found guilty of involvement in a scuffle at Maharashtra's Vidhan Bhavan last year. The decision, handed down by the privileges committee, was announced by Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar.
Nitin Deshmukh and Sarjerao Takle faced arrest on February 27, followed by their release the next day, Narwekar informed the House. The incident, which occurred during last year's monsoon session, highlighted ongoing tensions in the legislative building.
Deshmukh, affiliated with NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad, and Takle, associated with BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar, were embroiled in the scuffle that prompted the disciplinary action. The privileges committee took stringent measures to address the disruption, emphasizing accountability among participants.
