A man who allegedly attempted to assassinate National Conference president Farooq Abdullah has been placed in five-day police custody following a ruling by a city court on Thursday.
The accused, 63-year-old Kamal Singh Jamwal, was presented in court amid strict security measures, where police argued the necessity of further interrogation to uncover the motive behind the attack and to identify any affiliations.
The court granted the request, mandating a medical checkup for Jamwal every 24 hours, as questions loom about his intentions and connections. Abdullah narrowly escaped harm when shots were fired at him as he exited a wedding event near Jammu.
