The State Election Commission (SEC) declared Tuesday that the elections for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) are set for April 13. At a press briefing, State Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar confirmed the voting date for the 28 TTAADC seats and counting set for April 17.
State Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar outlined the election timeline, stating that the notification will be released on March 18, with nomination submissions due by March 25. The scrutiny will follow on March 26, and candidates have until March 28 to withdraw. Kumar emphasized that the Model Code of Conduct is now in effect.
The current tenure of the tribal council ends on April 18, with the Tipra Motha Party holding 19 seats, BJP 9 seats, and two members appointed by the Governor. Precautions for peaceful elections include deploying extra security forces. Director General of Police Anurag revealed that 1,257 polling booths have been classified by security level, with 11,000 officers assigned to maintain order.
