In a significant breakthrough, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Uttar Pradesh Police apprehended a man involved in a gang that manufactured forged Aadhaar cards, according to officials. The suspect, Vinod Kumar Vishwakarma, was detained late Wednesday night from a shop in Sabzi Mandi locality.

The arrest marks the latest development in a broader investigation launched by the Lucknow ATS in August 2025, which unearthed a widespread fake Aadhaar card racket. Vishwakarma, a resident of Naurangiya village, came under scrutiny for allegedly providing technical support to the counterfeit operation.

Led by Inspector Kuldeep Singh, the ATS, with local police support, raided Vishwakarma's shop and discovered a laptop, a mobile phone, and incriminating documents. Station House Officer Jai Prakash Dubey noted that an initial inquiry was conducted before transferring the suspect to Lucknow for further questioning.
