Union minister Jayant Chaudhary recently became the target of a death threat from an anonymous caller, prompting authorities to reevaluate security measures and launch a police investigation, officials stated on Friday.

Originating from Murshidabad, West Bengal, the call was received by Chaudhary, who's currently serving as the minister of state for skill development and entrepreneurship, around 11 am on March 18. The caller, using an unidentified number, allegedly threatened Chaudhary's life and alluded to the use of MP5 firearms, as per the complaint filed at Tughlak Road police station.

The complaint suggests the perpetrator also sent follow-up messages containing itinerary details and further threats, and suspicious activities, including surveillance, were reported near Chaudhary's residence. Identified as Mohammad Ismail, efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect and determine his intent, police confirmed.
