Delhi Police have successfully apprehended a notorious criminal in a novel operation using a fake social media profile. The accused, Aman, 25, from Aram Bagh in Paharganj, known for his long history of crime, was targeted by officials after a complaint about a stolen scooter in Nabi Karim.
Posing as a woman online, police arranged a meeting at Jhandewalan Metro Station where they arrested Aman, who had been listed as a 'bad character' at Paharganj police station. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh revealed that the arrest helped recover four stolen scooters and solve multiple theft cases.
During interrogation, Aman confessed to his modus operandi of stealing and concealing scooters for snatching incidents. The police recovered the vehicles from different locations and noted his involvement in over 30 previous criminal cases. Further investigations continue into the extent of his illicit activities.
