Census 2027 officially began with digital self-enumeration, marking a significant shift in India's data collection methods. High-profile figures such as President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated, encouraging citizens to embrace the new system.
The exercise, initiated in the NDMC and Delhi Cantonment Board areas, saw around 500 completions on its first day, with officials assisting constitutional authorities in the process. Notably, no significant technical issues were reported despite the large-scale digital undertaking.
