India Embarks on Digital Census 2027 with President Murmu Leading the Way

President Droupadi Murmu officially launched India's Census 2027 in a historic move that sees the census being conducted digitally for the first time. During a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the president completed her own household enumeration on an online portal, marking a key modernization step.

The digital census comes with a 15-day self-enumeration window in eight states and Union Territories, including Delhi. The process allows citizens to submit their information through a government-developed online platform, enhancing efficiency and engagement. Pictures from the event were shared on social media, underlining the occasion's significance.

The Census 2027, conducted in two phases, begins with house listing and housing enumeration. The detailed schedule includes door-to-door houselisting between April 16 and May 15 for NDMC and Delhi Cantonment areas, and a subsequent phase for population census endeavors.
