Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Concludes Productive Budget Session

The Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha completed its 16-day budget session with 103% productivity. The session included discussions on 617 questions and the passing of nine bills. An amendment was also made to deny disqualified or defeated MLAs certain benefits, marking a significant legislative development.

The Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha wrapped up its 16-day budget session on Thursday, showcasing an impressive productivity rate of 103%. The legislative discussions stretched over approximately 90 hours, divided into two phases comprising a total of 16 sittings.

During the session, Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania highlighted the productive nature of the proceedings. A total of 617 questions were addressed, and nine government bills were introduced and passed after thorough debate. The session also witnessed the presentation of 60 committee reports.

A notable legislative change was the passage of an amendment to the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (Allowances and Pension of Members) Act. This amendment means MLAs who defect, get disqualified, and lose re-election will be denied certain pensions and benefits.
