Karnataka's Gram Panchayats Shine with Record Tax Revenues in 2025-26
Karnataka has reached a new milestone in grassroots governance with gram panchayats achieving higher tax collections in 2025-26. The state reported Rs 1,382.57 crore in tax collections, surpassing the previous year's total by Rs 110.04 crore. This success is attributed to improved systems, accountability, and increased local revenue capabilities.

Karnataka's gram panchayats have set a new benchmark in tax collection, achieving higher revenues in 2025-26 as compared to the previous year. Minister Priyank Kharge announced an impressive Rs 1,382.57 crore collected, a substantial Rs 110.04 crore increase over the prior fiscal year.
This remarkable achievement represents an 89 per cent realisation of the current demand, the highest in recent years. With a strategic focus on improving systems, accountability, and empowering local bodies, Karnataka has laid a robust foundation for sustainable rural development.
In addition to state-level success, specific districts have excelled, with Raichur achieving an exceptional 129 per cent collection efficiency. This consistent upward trend highlights the impact of efficient administration and stringent regulation enforcement, further driving local development and community progress.
