The murder of a 12-year-old girl in Jharkhand has ignited a political storm, with the state's ruling JMM organizing rallies in Ranchi and Hazaribag. The Congress party alleged that a person arrested in connection with the crime had ties to the BJP, which the BJP has vehemently denied as a defamation attempt by the ruling alliance.
According to the Hazaribag Police, the girl's mother, an occult practitioner Shanti Devi, and a man named Bhim Ram were arrested for allegedly strangulating her as part of a sacrificial ritual in Kusumbha village. JMM spokesperson Manoj Pandey criticized the BJP for prematurely misrepresenting the case as rape and murder, accusing them of trying to manipulate the narrative and defame the government.
Jharkhand BJP president Aditya Sahu refuted the allegations, stating that the arrested individual was not a BJP member and claimed that their pressure led to the case's revelations. Sahu demanded a judicial probe and warned that BJP workers would protest if further incidents occurred. The case underscores a tense political climate, amid calls for justice and order in the state.
