In a significant development, Jintu Gogoi, a militant associated with the prohibited ULFA-I faction, has surrendered to security forces in the Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh. The event, which occurred at the SP's office in Khonsa, marks a crucial step in efforts to encourage militants to abandon violence and reintegrate into society.

Gogoi, also known by his alias Arun Asom, is a 23-year-old resident of Hachara village, located in Assam's Sivasagar district. His decision to lay down arms was symbolized by handing over a 7.65 mm Italian-made pistol, along with one magazine and ten rounds of ammunition, to the police and paramilitary forces.

This surrender is seen as part of sustained initiatives aimed at fostering peace and stability in the region. An official involved in the operation remarked that further investigations are being conducted to ensure a thorough understanding of the militant network and operations.
