IPL Ticket Scam: Cyber Fraud Targets Cricket Fans

A cyber fraud case has been registered after individuals were deceived by a fake website selling IPL tickets for Bengaluru matches. The fraudulent platform mimicked RCB's official site to con victims, who lost considerable sums. Police are investigating and cautioning fans against unofficial ticket links.

Authorities have uncovered a cyber fraud scheme targeting cricket fans in Bengaluru, registering a case after multiple individuals were swindled out of money through a counterfeit website that claimed to offer IPL tickets.

The fake site, which impersonated the official platform of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, misled consumers amidst high demand for match tickets, notably for the April 5 game against Chennai Super Kings. DCP M Narayana of the Electronic City Division reported the scam on Saturday, disclosing that the site was deactivated once payments were collected.

With transactions reportedly amounting to crores, authorities are urging caution, advising potential buyers to verify ticket purchases through the official RCB website only. So far, three victims have reported significant financial losses, prompting police to act swiftly in shutting down the fraudulent accounts.
