In a dramatic turn of events, the son of a notorious kingpin, Shivam Agarwal, has been arrested, heightening the scrutiny on a vast codeine-based cough syrup trafficking syndicate. Police disclosed his capture on Saturday amid ongoing investigations.

The Kanpur police revealed that six of the eleven accused, including Shivam, are now in custody. His father, Vinod Agarwal, is believed to have orchestrated the 'Agarwal brothers' network from behind bars. Investigations have unearthed a trail of deceit, including shell companies and fictitious transactions.

The probe extends across several states and Bangladesh, uncovering an operation that diverted an estimated 1.12 crore syrup bottles over two years. Authorities have traced Rs 42 crore in transactions, with the racket believed to be worth Rs 100 crore. The investigation continues as five accused remain at large.
