A 19-year-old youth from Amravati has been detained for allegedly enticing women and girls and distributing their objectionable images online, local officials reported on Wednesday. The allegations will be scrutinized by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), organized under the direction of Amravati Superintendent of Police (Rural) Vishal Anand.
Identified as Ayan Ahmed Tanvir Ahmed from Paratwada, the suspect was apprehended after inappropriate images and videos featuring him and various women went viral on social media platforms. Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims may include minors, coerced into compromising positions that are later publicized to tarnish their reputation.
The police have confiscated Ahmed's mobile device to gather further evidence. He is being charged under multiple sections, including the IPC, POCSO Act, and IT Act, although no victims have officially lodged complaints so far. Authorities are calling for victims to step forward, ensuring their safety and confidentiality throughout the legal process. Meanwhile, MP Anil Bonde has suggested that more individuals might be implicated, hinting at a larger network within the operation.
