In a move aiming to bolster economic empowerment and property ownership among women, the Chhattisgarh cabinet has sanctioned a 50% reduction in land registration charges for properties registered in women's names. This initiative, celebrated as a step towards gender equality, comes despite an anticipated revenue dip of approximately Rs 153 crore to the state treasury.
Additionally, the cabinet has approved a 25% concession in stamp duty for serving soldiers, ex-servicemen, and their widows on property acquisitions up to Rs 25 lakh within the state. This financial relief seeks to assist defence personnel dealing with frequent relocations, providing a pathway to secure permanent residences post-service.
The session, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, also endorsed crucial amendments to the Chhattisgarh Minor Mineral Rules, focusing on transparency and curbing illegal mining. Stricter penalties were introduced, and steps to ensure vaccine supply for livestock were approved, aiming to support agricultural productivity.
