India Declares Victory Over Naxal Violence: A Historic Milestone

The Indian government has declared that there are no longer any districts affected by Naxal violence, marking the end of over five decades of Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in the country. This follows a comprehensive security review conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, resulting in a significant policy shift.

The Indian government has officially announced that no districts in the country are affected by Naxal violence, concluding over fifty years of Left Wing Extremism. This historic declaration comes after a detailed security review held by the Ministry of Home Affairs, cementing a new chapter in India's internal security landscape. The review aligned with the National Policy and Action Plan to Address Left Wing Extremism, which was established in 2015.

The exhaustive review concluded on March 31, with a notification sent to the affected states, indicating a transformative shift in policy. Union Home Minister Amit Shah affirmed to Parliament that India is free from Maoists. The Ministry outlined the current security environment, which showed no armed Naxal cadres capable of executing violence and noted the elimination of liberated zones that were once major concerns.

This achievement is a result of persistent efforts by both central and state governments. However, certain areas remain under scrutiny as 'Legacy and Thrust districts' or 'Districts of Concern', requiring sustained security and development initiatives. These districts will continue to receive focused attention to prevent any resurgence of Naxal activities.
