High Court Delays Ruling on Gyanvapi Mosque Survey
The Allahabad High Court postponed its decision regarding a requested ASI survey of Gyanvapi mosque's wazu khana until May 14. The petition, filed by Rakhi Singh, contests a Varanasi court's refusal to include the mosque's ablution area in the survey, except for the disputed structure.

The Allahabad High Court has deferred its decision on conducting an ASI survey of the Gyanvapi mosque's wazu khana to May 14. The request for the survey has become a point of contention as the Hindu side labels a certain structure inside as a Shivlinga, while Muslims call it a fountain.
Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal issued the adjournment while hearing a civil revision petition from Rakhi Singh. Singh is one of the plaintiffs involved in a case regarding the Shringar Gauri site adjacent to the mosque.
The revision challenges an October 21, 2023, order by the Varanasi district judge that denied a directive for an ASI survey of the entire wazu khana, leaving out the disputed area, a decision that Singh and others are contesting.
