Unveiling Telangana's Groundbreaking Caste Survey

The Telangana government has released data from its comprehensive caste survey conducted in 2024-25, making it publicly accessible. Over 1.12 crore families were surveyed, covering a population of 3.55 crore. The survey data is aimed at addressing national debates on delimitation and women's reservation.

The Telangana government has made publicly accessible the comprehensive caste survey data conducted in 2024-25. Released on the state planning department's website, the data forms part of the Telangana Socio, Economic, Educational, Employment, Political and Caste (SEEEPC) survey. The initiation, delayed due to elections, has now positioned the state as a role model amid national discussions on delimitation and women's reservation.

State Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar shared that the survey covered 1.12 crore families, accounting for a population of 3.55 crore. To conduct this extensive survey, the government employed over one lakh enumerators and 76,000 data entry operators.

The survey commenced on November 6, 2024, and the first phase concluded after 50 days. The second phase allowed data collection through four innovative methods: GHMC office enumeration, a missed phone call system, a mobile app, and enrolment via Mee Seva Centres.
